Health Information Technology Resources
The West Virginia e-Health Initiative (WVeHI) has developed a white paper to provide prospective purchasers of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems with information about capabilities and features that the WVeHI believes to be desirable. The WVeHI is a coalition with broad representation from the health care and business communities and government. Its purpose is to promote the broad adoption, use and coordination of information technology in health care with the ultimate goal of improving the efficiency, effectiveness and safety of care. Please visit www.wvehi.org for information about the WVeHI and to view the white paper.
The West Virginia Medical Institute (WVMI) collaborates with the WVeHI. The West Virginia Medical Institute is the federally designated Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for West Virginia. The WVMI is working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in a three year program to provide a free service to primary care and internal medicine practices who are interested in implementing (or starting to implement) an EHR system. They are inviting physicians in these practices to join the national Doctor's Office Quality - Information Technology (DOQ-IT) project. DOQ-IT participants receive free resources and materials to help practices plan, assess, implement and evaluate EHR systems. Please visit www.qiwv.org for more information.
